Workshop FAQ

Common questions about the sessions.

Practical answers to help you plan training.

Participants learn how to recognize signs of mental health problems and substance-use concerns, offer initial help through a practical action plan, and guide someone toward appropriate professional, peer or self-care support. The course builds confidence, reduces stigma and increases mental health literacy across the whole team.

Compassion fatigue workshops focus on recognizing secondary traumatic stress, vicarious trauma and burnout in helping roles. Participants learn how these stressors show up individually and organizationally, explore evidence-informed resilience strategies, and leave with practical tools for self-regulation, boundaries and sustainable care.

Sessions are interactive, discussion-based and grounded in real scenarios. Most sessions run as 90 minutes, a half-day, a full-day, or a customized format. Delivery is virtual across Canada, and in person by arrangement. MHFA certification courses are delivered as the official 8-hour MHFA Standard or the 16-hour MHFA certification course, following MHFA group-size requirements.

MHFA is valuable across an organization: frontline staff, supervisors, executives and volunteers. Compassion fatigue and trauma-informed communication sessions suit direct-service, clinical, education, settlement and crisis-response roles. Audience and examples are tailored to your sector.

Participants who complete either the 8-hour MHFA Standard or the 16-hour MHFA certification course receive official Mental Health First Aid certification. Other workshops are delivered as professional development; certificates of attendance can be provided on request.

Yes. Custom Training is designed after a Needs Discovery conversation, using scenarios drawn from your team's real work. Facilitator materials, take-home resources and follow-up sessions can be included.
